Sit-in with a hot-pot in front of Ministry of Economy,Trade and Industory in Tokyo.Oct 12, 2011
Ten days after those four young people had finished that harsh 10-days-hunger strike in front of Ministry of Economy,Trade and Industry in Tokyo to make the ministry reconsider the nuclear policy in this country, a sit-in with a hot-pot to protest against the nuke plant was held on Oct 1. It is a kind of Japanse traditional sit-in especially among unversity students, one of the most enjoyable meeting to protest. The participants sit having a dish cooked in a hot-pot and talk. It is usually held when it's cool. And Oct 1 was the first day to feel like having it. When will Ministry of Economy quit a cozy relationship with TEPCO?Feb 22, 2012
Freelance Journalists have been asking the gov't to let them gather news in Fukushima Daiich Nuclear Power Plant since about April. However, Nuclear and Industry Safety Agency(NISA) have been replying that it depends on TEPCO and that it says it's not safe. Now, Makorine of Oshidori, a comedienne, who just became a journalist of News for the People in Japan after 3.11, cleverly tries to make Aizawa, vice president of TEPCO prove that the journalists can gather news in J-Village, the old football training ground for Japanese national team and the place where workers for the plant take a rest, on Oct 17 2011 in the headoffice of TEPCO. However, when the vice president begins to be driven into a corner, Yoshizawa, a presenter and of a department of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry which NISA also belongs to interrupts her question somehow. And also Naoki Otake of Sankei Shinbun is for Yoshizawa. It is said that we can find Yakuza gangs in J-Village by some journalists who infiltrated into there. New Japanese Trade Minister Resigns over Fukushima GaffeSep 19, 2011
BY RUISHA QIAN After just a week on the job, Japan's trade minister Yoshio Hachiro has resigned. This-- after two gaffes concerning the radiated areas around the damaged Fukushima Daiichi nuclear facility. NHK has the story... "On Friday trade minister Yoshio Hachiro described parts of Fukushima as a city of death after visiting the quake-hit prefecture. He also joked with a journalist saying that the dirt he got off the sleeve may be radioactive." The remark was made when Japan's new Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda and his ministers were visiting the plant and surrounding areas. Hachiro's remark has been called insensitive to nuclear evacuees. He later apologized. The GlobalPost has it. "'A series of my remarks caused serious distrust among the people, especially the people of Fukushima. I seriously reflected on my remarks, and I made the decision to step down.'" Analysts say Hachiro's resignation as head of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry may cast the fledging Noda Cabinet in a bad light. The Financial Times says-- another personnel shakeup is the last thing the ruling Democratic Party of Japan needs. "Mr Hachiro was a relatively low-profile cabinet member. Still, his resignation is an embarrassment for a government that is seeking to break a pattern of short-lived administrations in Japan. [Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda is the sixth premier to take office in the past five years." Others argue Noda's quick decision to sacrifice Hachiro willl help dampen public ...

Apr 19, 2012 Syria_protest against price hike of basic commoditiesApr 21, 2012
Residents in Syria's capital, Damascus, took to the street on Thursday, protesting against the hike of basic commodities' prices and the incompetent management of the Syrian government. People rallied in front of the country's Ministry of Economy and Trade, holding a banner saying "Some people are greedy, and you are incompetent". "Maybe for the goods imported from outside, there's a reason (for the price hike) because of the increasing of the dollar. But for the local merchandises, there's no reason at all. That's about the chicken, about the meat, about the vegetables. Poor people became more poor, and there are a lot of families that became hungry," said one of the citizen in Damascus. The Syrian economy has experienced severe setbacks since the 13-month turmoil broke out in the country. And the economic sanctions imposed on Syria by Western and Arab countries are making the condition even worse. The exchange rate of the Syrian pound depreciated 62 percent against the US dollar during the last 12 months. In addition, cotton prices have increased 37 percent, sugar prices up 50 percent and vegetable oil prices 20 percent higher. Fuel prices also climbed 20 percent from last April. The constant price hike is making life unbearable for consumers. To curb rising inflation, the Syrian government issued two price lists of major commodities on March 26 and April 2, which set maximum prices for some staple food such as chicken (at 175 Syrian pound per kilo), pancake (at 45 ...
